Welcome
I would like to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather today. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future, as they hold the culture, hopes, and dreams of the Aboriginal people.
Welcome to the NSW Public Schools Iron Cove Network Performing Arts Festival 2023!
On behalf of this year's production team, it is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all attendees. This festival, now in its second year, is a testament to the creativity, talent, and dedication of students from schools in the Iron Cove Network, who have come together to showcase their artistic prowess in dance, drama, vocal, and music.
This year, we are honoured to host 12 primary and high schools from the local area. This festival serves as an opportunity for students to shine in the realm of creative and performing arts. It is also a celebration of public education, aiming to raise the profile of the Iron Cove Network and schools across the state.
The efforts of our exceptional teachers, administrative staff, and school principals within the NSW Public School system have made this event possible. Their commitment to providing students with an avenue for combined quality performances in a local venue is commendable. We hope that this experience will inspire the next generation of artists, be it in sound, lighting, stage management, or performance, and make a lasting impact on their artistic journeys.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our 2023 production team, led by our festival coordinator and artistic director, Mr Christopher Tan (Orange Grove PS), along with Mrs. Angela Noble (Abbotsford PS) and Ms. Jennifer McLachlan (Rozelle and Dobroyd Point PS). Their unwavering dedication, enthusiasm, and countless hours of behind-the-scenes work have culminated in the two extraordinary concerts that we will showcase tonight.
The NSW Public Schools Iron Cove Network Performing Arts Festival is dedicated to the participating students. Whether they are part of a dance group, drama ensemble, music group, or choir, these children represent our future, and this experience will leave an indelible mark on their lives. So, sit back, relax, and prepare to be enthralled by the incredible talents that will grace the stage tonight. Enjoy the show!
