About Us
The Iron Cove Network Performing Arts Festival is a dynamic and vibrant arts event. It is available to all schools in the Metropolitan South Operational Directorate, Iron Cove Network. The festival is a culmination of creative and performing arts programs in dance, drama, vocal, and music across many local schools.
Our aim is to present an opportunity for students to be involved in theatre arts and performance as part of the NSW Department of Education syllabus area of Creative Arts. The experiences we offer may also provide a pathway for students to follow a career either in performing arts or the technical side of theatre. Our goal is to strive for performance quality at all times. The aim of the festival is to also raise the profile of public education in the Iron Cove Network and across the state.
2023 will be the second official edition of the Iron Cove Network Performing Arts Festival. This year, the festival will be attended by 12 primary and high schools in the local area and will be an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in all aspects of the creative and performing arts. This mammoth task is only thanks to the dedication of teachers, administration staff and executive and school principals of our NSW Public School system, as they present an opportunity for their students to be involved in a combined quality performance in a local venue. If this experience provides the catalyst for one child to develop a career in the arts, whether it be sound, lighting, stage management or performing, then the whole exercise has been worthwhile.
The Iron Cove Network Performing Arts festival dedicates this event to the students of the participating schools. Whether in a dance group, drama ensemble, music group or choir, it is these children that are our future, and they will remember this experience throughout their lives.
"Being on stage is magic. There's nothing like it. You feel the energy of everybody who's out there. You feel it all over your body"
